METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING NATURE OF CAROTID PLAQUE AND EVALUATION DEVICE

Disclosed is a method whereby the nature of a carotid plaque can be quantitatively identified by carotid echo scanning and thus the onset of cerebral infarction or myocardial infarction can be predicted.The method comprises: a step for acquiring the integral quantity per unit time of echo signals, which are obtained at the point (1) of capturing an echo image of a carotid plaque by echo-scanning the carotid plaque by the IBS method, for each of pixels constituting the echo image; a step for preliminarily dividing the possible range of the integral quantities into multiple colored sections, then determining, for each of the pixels involved in the echo image obtained above, the section to which the integral quantity of the pixel belongs, by referring to a correspondence relationship of different colors respectively assigned to individual sections, and coloring the pixel in the echo image in the color thus assigned; and a step for displaying in a display unit (30) the echo image having been thus colored.
