Disclosed are: a device which automatically generates detailed road information by using the relation between pieces of traveling history data of a plurality of probe cars which are present within the same area at the same time; and a method for the same.From a traveling history data storage unit for storing the traveling history data of the probe cars, 1-1th traveling history data of a first probe car and 2-1th traveling history data of a second probe car, which are present in first coordinates at a first time, are extracted. The extracted 1-1th traveling history data and 2-1th traveling history data are compared with each other and the road information is identified on the basis of the results of the comparison.
