The method for the manufacture of a decorative coating containing luminophores is characterized in that the coating is applied to a substrate in conditions of ultraviolet illumination using a colourless decorative luminescent paint, which includes in its composition a luminophore and a binder. The luminophore used is an organic luminophore with an anomalously high Stokes shift having a value of more than 100 nm, which is colourless in daylight and luminesces in the visible region of the spectrum when illuminated with a source of ultraviolet radiation. A transparent organic substance is used as the organic binder. The binder is made such that it does not absorb long-wave ultraviolet radiation in the 365-420 nm region. The method makes it possible to obtain both single-layer and multi-layer decorative coatings of high quality. In multi-layer coatings, the function of decoration may be provided simultaneously by two decorative artistic layers combined on a single substrate. The claimed invention describes a paint formulation, containing luminophores, for preparing decorative coatings, and also various embodiments of articles with decorative coatings obtained by the method proposed and using said paint.
