The invention relates to a device for evaluating the protection class test of ballistic protection vests or ballistic protection helmets. For the evaluation, the plasticine block bearing the trauma from the protection class test is clamped into a mount that can be rotated in a computer-controlled manner. A laser scanner then scans the trauma. The computer produces a three-dimensional image of the trauma from the result. Because of the repeatable mechanical or optical arrangement, said partial scans can be superimposed to form a whole image. The repeatable and computer-controlled device also enables an automated comparison of a plurality of trauma measurements, for example, according to diameter, depth, or volume. The versatile adjustability makes it possible to use the system to evaluate according to different test standards.
