An apparatus for recovering raw gypsum from plasterboard or from other similar gypsum-based materials, comprising, in line,- a hopper (11) for receiving plasterboard panels or panel portions and for a first reduction of the panels into first fragments,- a first screen (15) for separating the first plasterboard fragments from any objects not made of plasterboard- a drying oven (18)- first means (19) for grinding- a second screen (21), designed to separate the gypsum powder with an optimum particle size- second means (24) for grinding- a third screen (27), designed to separate the gypsum powder of optimum particle size- means (31) for collecting and sending fragments that exit from the second screen (21) and the third screen (27) to- a brushing assembly (30),- a pneumatic assembly for aspirating, filtering and sending the gypsum of optimum particle size toward collection silos (32).
