The present invention relates to a medical device comprising a porous article of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) having a microstructure comprising nodes interconnected by fibrils, wherein the microstructure at a surface of the porous article at least partially comprises nodes having segments that are free of fibrillate interconnections. Further, the invention relates to a method for the manufacture of the medical device.
