The microscope (20) has a light source (22) e.g. LED-array, for generating excitation light (24), and detector elements for detecting fluorescent light. Optical fibers guide the excitation light to a sample (42) as partial beams (30) and guide the fluorescent light emitted by the sample to the detector elements. A focusing lens is arranged in the direction of the partial beams between the optical fibers and the sample, where the optical fibers are attached to the detector elements. The lens has a micro lens system (36) for coupling the partial beams to the optical fibers. An independent claim is also included for a method for examining a sample by using a fluorescence microscope.
