PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a method for compensating picture quality thereof are provided to remove a display blur due to a backlight, thereby effectively reducing a statistic contrast ratio and power consumption without lowering display quality.;CONSTITUTION: A location determining unit(161) uses vertical/horizontal synchronous signals(Vsync,Hsync), a data enable signal(DE), and a dot clock(DCLK). A compensation unit(131) uses location data and compensation data from the first and second storage units. A dimming signal analysis unit(164) analyzes an inputted local dimming signal(LDIM). The second compensation data reading unit(165) operates based on a location determining result and a dimming signal analyzing result from the location determining unit and the dimming signal analysis unit.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
