PURPOSE: An ultrafine boron powder for magnesium dibride superconductor wires and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to obtain carburization effects and to enable miniaturization of boron powder due to the application of self combustion. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing an ultrafine boron powder for magnesium dibride superconductor wires comprises: a material mixing step(S100) for mixing material powder containing a boron compound, a hydrocarbon compound less than 15 weight% of the boron in comparison with total weight, and a diluting agent less than 300 weight% of the boron in comparison with total weight; a reducing agent mixing step(S200); a self combustion reaction step(S300); and a post processing step(S400).
