PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for the hybrid augmented channel equalization of a receiver for underwater acoustic communication are provided to reduce noises and reduce calculation complexity of channel synchronization by using the delay information of multiple paths. CONSTITUTION: A main control unit(60) drives first and second channel equalizers in parallel after delayed time, and outputs the output signal of the first channel equalizer. The main control unit compares the error distance of the first channel equalizer and the error distance of the second channel equalizer. If the error distance of the second channel equalizer is shorten than the error distance of the first channel equalizer, the main control unit only drives the second channel equalizer. The main control unit outputs the output signal of the second channel equalizer.
