PURPOSE: A slag solidifying apparatus and method are provided to lower the generation rate of accidents by removing a manual operation of detaching and separating slag from the slag port. CONSTITUTION: A slag solidifying apparatus comprises a slag port(200), a pair of hinge plates(220), an assembly ring(300), a frame part(400), a driving part(500), a tension applying unit(600), and a slag detaching and separating unit(700). The slag port with top and bottom open is divided in the vertical direction. The hinge plates are assembled to the lower divided part of the slag port, facing each other. The assembly ring surrounds the slag port and is driven up and down. The tension applying unit is connected between the slag pot and the frame part. The slag detaching and separating unit is inserted to the top of the slag port and closes the bottom of the slag port.
