PURPOSE: A novel methane-oxidizing bacteria, Cupriavidus sp., and a method for reducing methane and volatile organic compound using the same are provided to effectively decompose methane. CONSTITUTION: A novel Cupriavidus sp. MBT 14KCTC 11518BP is isolated and identified from a landfill. A composition for reducing methane and volatile organic compound contains Cupriavidus sp. MBT14 KCTC 11518BP. A bio-cover for reducing methane and volatile organic compound released from the earth contains the composition for reducing methane and volatile organic compound.
