PURPOSE: An antibacterial composition containing oregonin or hirsutenone is provided to prevent or relieve Staphylococcus aureus infection and to ensure antibacterial activity to Staphylococcus aureus.;CONSTITUTION: An antibacterial composition contains Alnus pendula matsum bark extract, or a compound of chemical formula 1 or 2 as an active ingredient. The chemical formula 1, R is xylose. The Alnus pendula matsum bark extract is isolated using water, anhydrous or hydrous low alcohol of 1-4 carbon atoms, acetone, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate or 1,3-butylene glycol.
