PURPOSE: An HDMI(High Definition Multimedia Interface) system supporting an Ethernet function, and a method for displaying HDMI cable connection condition of the same are provided to allow a user to confirm the connection state of an improper HDMI cable which supports an Ethernet function.;CONSTITUTION: An HDMI system comprises a source device(100), and the source device includes a decoder(110), an HDMI transmission unit(120), a control unit(130), an Ethernet communication unit(140), and a signal detection unit(150). The decoder decodes and outputs a digital A/V signal transferred from a disk or broadcasting signal. The HDMI transmission unit transmits the decoded digital A/V data in signal format proper to a digital interface of the HDMI. The control unit reads out the data format information for recognizing an image device(200) through a DDC(Display Data Channel)/CEC(Consumer Electronics Control) line in the connection with the HDMI cable. The Ethernet communication unit performs Ethernet communication with the image device through the HDMI cable, and the signal detection unit judges whether or not a square wave signal is detected.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
