PURPOSE: A broad acoustic leak detector in a steam generator of a sodium-cooled fast reactor and a method thereof are provided to actively and passively detect water leakage caused by a crack of a steam generator. CONSTITUTION: The first detecting unit(40) comprises an ultrasonic wave emitting sensor(41) and an ultrasonic wave receiving sensor(42) which face a detected sodium inlet and a sodium outlet respectively. The first detecting unit actively detects water leakage. The second detecting unit(50) comprises a plurality of acoustic sensors installed on an external wall of a steam generator. The second detecting unit passively detects water leakage. A controller(60) determines whether water is leaked based on acoustic signal level values detected by the first and second detecting units.
