PURPOSE: A process for recovering valued compounds such as methacrylic acids and 2-methacrylamide is provided to reduce the amount of wastes by utilizing waste stream and to recover compounds such as methyl acrylic acid(MAA) and 2-metacryl amide(MAM) in high yield.;CONSTITUTION: A process for recovering valued compounds such as methacrylic acids and 2-methacrylamide from a residual stream derived from purification of methyl methacrylate comprises the steps of: (i) providing residual stream including at least, MAA, and MAM and heavy compounds; (ii) separating the residual stream into overhead stream and residual organic stream; and (iii) separating MAA and MAM from a heavy compound by forming an organic raffinate stream consisting of aqueous extract and heavy compound by extracting residue organic stream with a solvent.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
