PURPOSE: A top unit for increasing the flow velocity in a conduit is provided to prevent sludge and floating materials from becoming deposited in the conduit by increasing the flow velocity of sewage according to the raise of water level by contracting the cross section in the conduit. CONSTITUTION: A top unit(100) for increasing the flow velocity in a conduit is as follows. In order that the flow velocity of sewage can be increased by the contracting of the cross section in a conduit, the top unit is installed on the inner center of the conduit in a longitudinal direction and divides a flow path into two sections. In order that vortex is formed not to deposit floating materials and sludge in the conduit, vortex paths(110), which are formed to slope along width in the direction of discharging sewage in a zigzag form at given intervals.
