PURPOSE: An image restoration apparatus restricting a reference image region, and a method thereof are provided to clearly restore a user-desirable image by using a reference image region including the image most similar to the image which is supposed to be restored.;CONSTITUTION: A target region setting unit(300) sets up a target image region which is supposed to be restored according to an image restoration request, and a peripheral region setting unit(310) sets up a peripheral image region of a preset size including the set target image region. A similar region division unit(320) groups similar pixels within the set peripheral image region to set the grouped pixels into similar image regions. A reference region setting unit(330) divides the target image region according to the similar image region, and a restoration processing unit(340) detects and copies the image of an image region most similar to the target image region.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
