PURPOSE: The jaw structure of a surgical instrument is provided to easily grip a target by covering the gripping surface of a pair of jaws based on an elastic material.;CONSTITUTION: A pair of jaws(10) is mounted to the end part of a surgical instrument in order to implement a gripping operation. An elastic skin(12) covers facing sides of the jaws. The elastic skin is transformed by a target according to the gripping operation of the jaws. A sensing part(14) is interposed between the jaws and the elastic skin. The sensing part measures reaction force applied to the jaws based on the transformed degree of the elastic skin.
