PURPOSE: A method for preparing terephthalic acids using wasted polyethylene terephthalate is provided to easily separate terephthalic acid of high purity from a wasted polyethylene terephthalate resin in a mild reaction environment of low pressure and low temperature. ;CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing terephthalic acids using wasted polyethylene terephthalate includes the steps of: reacting wasted polyethylene terephthalate, sodium carbonate and water to prepare terephthalic acid salts in a solution state; cooling the solution at room temperature and washing the solution with ethanol to separate terephthalic acid salts and ethylene glycol solution; and adding acids to the separated terephthalic acid salts to a solid terephthalic acid.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
