PURPOSE: An encoding/decoding apparatus and method of a multi plane image using bi-prediction, and a recording medium therefor are provided to improve encoding efficiency through improvement of prediction efficiency between planes. ;CONSTITUTION: An intra prediction part(610) performs intra prediction for the current block of a current plane. An inter plane prediction unit(620) performs inter plane prediction for the current block. A dual plane prediction unit(630) creates a third prediction block. An optimal mode decision unit(640) selects one optimal prediction block having the highest encoding efficiency of first to third prediction blocks.
