PURPOSE: An east-west orbit control method for a geostationary orbit satellite is provided to reduce the fuel consumption of a geostationary orbit satellite by reducing speed changes for adjustment of an east-west orbit. CONSTITUTION: An east-west orbit control method for a geostationary orbit satellite is as follows. The start time and the increment of velocity for maintenance and adjustment of east-west position of a geostationary orbit satellite are calculated from the initial values. An east-west velocity change generated in wheel off-loading and maintenance and adjustment of south-north position of the geostationary orbit satellite is calculated in advance. A position change considering the east-west velocity change is predicted before the next maintenance and adjustment of east-west position of the geostationary orbit satellite. The effectiveness of the orbit of the geostationary orbit satellite is verified from the predicted position change. If the orbit is not effective, the start time and the increment of velocity are compensated to restart the calculation of velocity change.
