摘要

PURPOSE: A non-platinum cathode catalyst for a polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell is provided to enhance oxygen reduction activity as a cathode catalyst by allowing transition metal nanoparticles in a reducing condition, and to increase the stability of the catalyst. CONSTITUTION: A non-platinum cathode catalyst for a polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell has a structure where transition metal nanoparticles are dispersed and fixed on a conductive carbon support surface-modified with a nitrogen-containing organic compound. The transition metal is one or their alloy selected from Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zr, Nb, Mo, Tc, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Hf, Ta, W, Re, Os, Ir, and Au.
