PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for removing of image sticking in an image display device are provided to equalize the property of luminance due to an OLED current, thereby helping a user not to recognize the fault of an afterimage. ;CONSTITUTION: In a method and apparatus for removing of image sticking in an image display device, an memory unit stores an image signal and stores the level of the image signal. A video processing unit calculates the average level value of the image signal stored in the memory unit and calculates the complement of the average level value. A pattern generator generates an image signal having a calculated complement.
