TARGET IDENTIFICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS THEREOF USING A NARROW BAND SIGNAL FOR PASSIVE SONAR

PURPOSE: A target identification method and an apparatus thereof are provided to automatically identify a target using a narrow band signal for passive sonar, thereby performing a target identification process usually performed by a highly experienced worker in real time.;CONSTITUTION: A narrow band characteristic vector is extracted from acoustic signal data received from passive sonar. An objective function value is calculated based on database information with respect to an identification object target group corresponding to the narrow band characteristic vector. A maximum wide area point of a three dimensional curved surface generated as the objective function value is estimated. A target is estimated from the database information with respect to the identification object target group based on the estimated result. The effective speed and Doppler amount of the estimated target is separately estimated base on the estimated result.
