PURPOSE: A deinterlacing method and apparatus thereof using an edge direction are provided to apply various applications such as mosaic removal of a color signal. CONSTITUTION: A first deinterlacing unit(10) compensates a pixel from an interlace signal by using the directionality of a frequency domain. A second deinterlacing unit compensates a pixel from the interlace signal. A reliability verification unit(40) verifies edge direction reliability between the first deinterlacing unit and the second deinterlacing unit. An output unit(50) combines the value of a pixel in the first deinterlacing unit.
