PURPOSE: A composition for preventing and treating obesity or atherosclerosis, which contains Eupolyphaga sinensis extract or its fraction as an active ingredient is provided to suppress increase of weight, fat and adipocyte size. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating atherosclerosis contains Eupolyphaga sinensis extract as an active ingredient. The Eupolyphaga sinensis extract is isolated using water, alcohol or their mixture. The alcohol is low alcohol of C1-C4. The low alcohol is ethanol or methanol. The composition for preventing and treating atherosclerosis contains organic solvent fraction of Eupolyphaga sinensis extract as an active ingredient. The organic solvent is hexane or ethylacetate.
