PURPOSE: An ADH1B and ALDH2 genes is provided to analyze gene polymorphism and perform diagnosis and prediction of alcoholism. CONSTITUTION: An ADH1B gene has a single nucleotide polymorphism for diagnosing and predicting alcoholism. The SNP(single nucleotide polymorphism) of the ADH1B is His47Arg. An ALDH2 gene has a single nucleotide polymorphism for diagnosing and predicting alcoholism. The SNP of the ALDH2 is Glu487Lys. When the ADH1B His47Arg is Arg/Arg or ALDH2 Glu487Lys is Glu/Glu, there is genetic effect to alcoholism. When the ADH1B His47Arg is Arg/Arg and ALDH2 Glu487Lys is Glu/Glu, there is complex genetic effect to alcoholism.
