The present invention relates to iron oxide / manganese oxide hybrid nanoparticles having a T1 and T2 double contrast action and a method for preparing the same. The dumbbell-type iron oxide / manganese oxide hybrid nanoparticles can enhance cancer signals in blood vessels and liver in T2-weighted MRI, while simultaneously enhancing light signals in brain and kidney in T1-weighted MRI.
