According to the invention, water flooding of low-permeability zones and/or formations is accelerated and average oil production is increased by creating fluid cross-flows mainly directed from low-permeability zones and/or formations to high-permeability ones. For that purpose, during each modulation period there increased is the well flow rate for the time which is less than the pressure response time in high-permeability zones and/or formations. Flow rate is maintained unchangeable during the time period equal as to order of magnitude of damping time of cross-flows between zones and/or formations.
