FIELD: physics.;SUBSTANCE: method of detecting an intruder crossing a secure boundary (in standing, bending, rolling or creeping position) is based on forming several areas of sensitivity between wires of a multi-wire transmission line. The device has a transmitter, a multi-wire transmission line placed along the secure boundary and a receiver; one side of the multi-wire transmission line is connected to the transmitter and the other side is connected to the receiver; the transmitter includes a pulse sequence generator connected on one side to a clock pulse detector and on the other side to a pulse generator which generates short broadband probing pulses; the receiver includes a generating and storage device (device for selecting the envelope of the useful signal), connected on one side to a high frequency band-pass filter and the clock pulse generator, and on the other side to an analyser for the rate of rise of the front of the useful signal and a threshold device, which are connected to an analyser for the duration of exceeding the threshold, which is in turn connected to an actuating device.;EFFECT: high reliability of detection and wider range of use by forming additional areas of sensitivity between wires of a multi-wire transmission line placed along a secure boundary.;4 dwg
