FIELD: physics, nuclear.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to blocks of reactor fuel cells, particularly to design of working holders for VVER-440 reactors. The holder has a tail and a head part joined by corner support elements and a frame lying in between. The frame has spacer grids assembled from cells placed on a triangular grid with formation of coaxial hexagonal rows around the centre of the grid. In the second or third or fourth row from the centre or at corners of the third or fourth rows from the centre or at corners of the third and second rows from the centre or at corners of the fourth and second rows from the centre or in the middle of the fourth and second rows from the centre there are frame pipes joined to the tail part and rigidly joined to neighbouring cells.;EFFECT: high rigidity and strength of the working holder, high safety of using the holder in normal and emergency conditions and efficiency of using fuel owing to improvement in the water-uranium ratio and possibility of spectral control of reactiviity, as well as prolonged fuel cycle and fuel burn-up fraction.;28 cl, 12 dwg
