An enteric coated oral pharmaceutical formulation comprises omeprazole, or its alkaline salt, an enantiomer, or an alkaline salt of an enantiomer of omeprazole as active ingredient; and a separation layer between active ingredient and enteric coating comprising a polyvinyl alcohol/polyethylene glycol graft copolymer and/or optionally modified pea starch. An independent claim is included for a method of manufacturing a solid, enteric coated oral pharmaceutical formulation comprising applying an active ingredient and optional additional compounds to a core, coating with a separation layer comprising a polyvinyl alcohol/polyethylene glycol graft copolymer and/or optionally modified pea starch, and coating with an enteric coating comprising cellulose acetate phthalate, hydroxymethylcellulose, methacrylic acid/methyl methacrylate copolymer, methacrylic acid/ethyl acrylate copolymer and/or shellac.
