The chair (1) has two utilization surfaces (2) formed as a sitting surface (2') or a backrest (2'') and stand in fixed connection to each other, and two laterally arranged leg pairs (3) connected with each other by a cross beam (4). Each of the leg pairs has a front leg (5) and a rear leg (6) and a support bar (7) for connecting the legs, and a connecting rod guide path is provided in or at the support bar of each leg pair. A connecting rod guiding element (20) connects the utilization surfaces and is movably held in the guide path of each leg pair.
