The sensor has a probe element (4) i.e. pivot lever, for recording compressive force (3) acting on a running yarn (1) by deflection and friction of the yarn. The probe element mechanically separates the compressive force into one force component (7) acting on a transducer element (9) and another force component (11) received by a sensor housing (12). A guide (5) of the probe element receives the frictional force generated by the yarn, so that the transducer element is kept away from the frictional force generated by the yarn.
