The meter has a measuring element introduced in a meter housing and provided with a display unit, which is readable by a transparent plastic cover (4). An annular identification element (8) is undetachably attached to the meter, and carries a meter-specific identification. Locking elements (10, 17) are locked with each other and are provided at the plastic cover and at the identification element, respectively, where the plastic cover exhibits basic circular shape. Multiple groove-like undercuts (11) are provided at the plastic cover.
