The unit has a roller bearing (2) e.g. ball roller bearing (4), with a sensor housing arranged at an outer bearing ring (18), and an integrated sensor device for detection of bearing-operating conditions. The housing is designed as an L-shaped adapter ring (12) resting against a free peripheral surface (14) and/or a front surface (16) of the bearing ring. The housing is dimensioned such that radial and/or axial dimensions (R, B) of the unit are equal to that of the bearing with identical bearing capacity. Sensor elements of the sensor device are arranged in a contact surface of the housing.
