The heat pump system has a heat pump with a condenser (5) as a heat exchanger for condensation of a refrigerant medium. Another heat exchanger is provided for exchanging the heat between the refrigerant medium and a fluid for the building. A hot water tank (30) is provided for storing the hot water. The heat pump system is designed to heat the water in the hot water tank simultaneously with the condenser and to exchange the heat with the fluid for a building with another heat exchanger. An independent claim is also included for a method for heating water for a building with a heat pump system.
