The device has a relief valve (2) arranged in a pipe section (1), and another pipe section (3) connected with the former pipe section. A sound absorber (4) is assigned to the latter pipe section. A third pipe section (5) is connected with the former pipe section, where liquid medium e.g. water, is discharged through the third pipe section. A liquid outlet device e.g. breaker plate (6), is opened during obtaining a defined pressure, which is produced by static height of the liquid medium in the third pipe section, or during obtaining a defined level of liquid in the third pipe section. The liquid outlet device is designed as a floater.
