The tool (10) has a tool body (11) provided with a work surface (12), where thermoplastic materials (F1, F2) are supplied for production of thin welding seams by the work surface of the tool. Multiple elevations (14) are arranged next to each other and formed on the work surface. The elevations are separated from each other by gaps (13) and arranged in a row, where height of the elevations is smaller than thickness of the thermoplastic materials to be welded.
