The device (1) has a filter housing (2) accommodating a stationary ring filter element (5) and comprising a filter bowl (4) screwable with a filter housing part (3). The filter element is rotatable by a connection device (6), held by the housing part in an axial direction (7) and is rotationally fixed by another connection device (8). The filter element is adjustably connected with the bowl in the axial direction. An idle opening (16) is provided at the bowl, and is closed by a pin (18) in an operating condition, where the pin is arranged at a lower end plate (17) of the filter element.
