The device (10) has an electric motor (16) for providing operating power for a vehicle, and a generator (14) for providing electrical energy for the motor. A gas turbine (18) is loaded with exhaust gas of a burner (22) and provides mechanical energy for driving the generator that is arranged on a shaft (26) of the gas turbine. A compressor (30) is arranged on the shaft for supplying the burner with compressed air, and an air-preheater heats the burner. A control butterfly valve (52) is arranged downstream of the gas turbine, and a guiding device is arranged upstream of a turbine wheel (24).
