The optical sensor has a channel (110) with opposite side panels (112a,112b) which are connected by a base (114). An optical fiber (120) is formed along the opposite side panels and along the base, so that a field (132) generates the light (130) in the channel by passing to the optical fiber. The molecules (140) are detected in the channel through a reciprocal effect with the field. The optical fiber is made of transparent material, particularly polymethyl methacrylate. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for manufacturing an optical fiber; and (2) a method for manufacturing an optical sensor structure.
