The method involves arranging an indication substance (7) in a region of a housing recess on an analysis substrate (2), where characteristics of the indication substance is changed when the indication substance is in contact an analytical substance. The analytical substance is fed to the analysis substrate using a removable carrier, which is positioned with a vertical propagation component above the analysis substrate in a vertical direction. Rinsing fluid is brought on the analysis substrate, for transporting the analytical substance to the analysis substrate. An independent claim is also included for a device for testing an analytical substance.
