The system (10) has a rotary pulse encoder (12) i.e. jog wheel, outputting a definite number of rotary impulses (14) in a conversion device (15) for each rotation. The conversion device converts rotary impulse delivered by the encoder into an adjusting impulse (16) for adjusting variables in a definite value range (11) dependent upon temporal gradient (18) of the rotary impulses delivered by the encoder and dependent upon the variable or an adjusting function, for which the adjusting impulse is to be generated from the rotary impulses.
