The transmission has a brake (03) and clutches (13, 17, 26, 28, 34) engaged to produce different transmission ratios between a drive shaft (1) and an output shaft. A rotatable shaft (5) is connected to an internal gear of a planetary gear set (P1) and a web of another planetary gear set (P2). An internal gear of third planetary gear set (P4) is coupled to housing (G). The output shaft is connectable to another rotatable shaft (6) via one of the clutches and connected to a web of the third gear set, where the latter shaft is connected to an internal gear of fourth planetary gear set (P3).
