The machine has pattern guide bars (2) i.e. string bars, including offset drives that are arranged over each other in a stack direction. Each bar is connected with the respective drive over a lever and extension elements (8) that are arranged in grooves of guiding devices (9). The extension elements are closed by a cover and combined to a guide strip (10) that corresponds to a bars carrier (4) in cross-section. One groove exhibits a cross-section larger than a cross-section of one extension element around a preset measure.
