The element has an adjusting pin (1) supported by a thread against a spring force in a sleeve (2) that is arranged at a component of an internal-combustion engine. A transmission element (3) stands in an effective connection with the pin, and supports at a spring-tensioned gas exchange valve and at a cam of a cam shaft, where the shaft is driven by the engine. A clamping effect of a clamping mechanism is adjustable and effective between the pin and the sleeve. The clamping mechanism is controllable depending on a distance between the pin and the transmission element.
