The present invention relates to an e. coli - secretion system on the basis of an s - layer - gene sequence, the expression product of the secretion of recombinant proteins from e. coli - cells. The secretion system is suitable for use in the molecular biology and in the field of biotechnology.The secretion system according to the invention is based on the use of a s - layer - protein, a partial sequence thereof or in a homologous sequence as secretory signal. The present invention further comprises a fusion protein, which is a target protein to be expressed and the novel secretory signal, a nucleic acid sequence which codes for a fusion protein according to the present invention, an expression vector or a cloning vector for the production of a fusion protein according to the invention, a host cell for the expression of a fusion protein according to the invention and a kit as well as a method for the expression and secretion of a fusion protein from a host cell.
