The device has a dryer housing (1) provided over an upper surface (2) of dry material. A functional section (5) is spaced at a distance to the upper surface of the dry material and turned towards the upper surface of the dry material. A supply point (6) is formed in a field-shape as a round nozzle. A suction point (7) is formed at the round nozzle. The supply point is arranged at an edge of the functional section. The supply point is aligned perpendicular to the upper surface of the dry material. The functional section exhibits dimensions in breadth of 0.4 m to 2 m and length of 0.3 m to 3 m. An independent claim is also included for a method for drying materials.
